I promised to write a post for Louise Penny for Memorial Day but it hasn't happened yet. My oldest daughter ended up in the hospital with a condition which was ultimately diagnosed as Guillain-Barre Syndrome on Memorial Day and so much we would have planned was put aside. She is out of the hospital and recovering now. This may or may not have been related to giving birth on May 20th to her first child, Leah Claire, who I am happy to report managed to survive and thrive through it all. Just to make it more exciting, those of us who visited Anna in her first emergency room visit all ended up with a lovely stomach virus which has made its way through much of the Doerflinger family--only the dog and Great-grandma have emerged unscathed.


And so, grand schemes of writing about the triumphal renaming of the Rockville Memorial Library are delayed. Just to hold you all over I will post the link to the Gazette article, written by Sean Norris, who had been Thomas's friend in 4th grade. It was lovely to see Sean and I liked his story too, but it was a reminder that he got to finish growing up and move on to adult occupations while Thomas did not.
